A
while back I stumbled
upon a phone phrek site documenting many
of the phone lines that
were up around
Southern California in the late 70's early 80's. I was never seriously
into
the phone scene, but when
I
saw their site I
was excited by the memories that it triggered and inspired by how the
phone kids had
documented and preserved part of
a world that no longer
exists, at least not the way it did.
That
got me thinking about another pre Internet activity that was popular in
the San Fernando Valley during that era, CB radio. Better than
the phone world in some ways because you could could take it
with you in the car, something you could not do with a phone
at that time. I did many Google searches looking for the names of people I
knew from the radio.
I even
did searches in the HAM radio
databases for those
who I thought to be hams, or knew to be at one time. Doing more generic CB
searches I
found several CB historic sites similar to what I was looking for but,
they were all back east. Several years have past and still nothing for the LA
area so I
decided to do something about it, hopefully with some help
from those of you who may have been doing the same searches and
stumbled upon this site.
Grab a
cup of coffee, come on in, take a look around and enjoy the
